One thing I learned in this panel is that it is often weirdly complicated and difficult to deal with 2-4 unit buildings in Chicago. Despite their prominence here, there can be serious bureaucratic complexity to build or rehab them.

None of them are on Bsky but my panelists did such a good job on Tuesday night, talking about the positive impacts on their businesses building more homes if 2-to-4 flats were allowed everywhere in Chicago.

So he just applied again, the new person to fill out the form said the building had 3 legal units
(a) No dimensional, density, or use constraint can be enforced on a block on which more than 20% of existing parcels do not comply with it.
(c) A block constitutes both sides of a section of a public way between intersections with other public ways, not exceeding 500 feet
