not entirely correct. Modeling shows that, with assumptions applied, universal respirator masking may have been enough to drop the Ro by a factor of 9.

Seems like a gross underestimate to me. 2-way respirators knocks transmission right down to zero in a public setting e.g. hospital. I'm guessing that some fudge factor was built into the model to account for sloppy use, poor fit, and lack of enforcement.

Three hospitals I’ve had contact with recently have all said N95’s aren’t worn due to budget constraints. The staff are issued surgical masks. One nurse I spoke to said they were told they were not allowed to use respirators unless in direct contact with an infectious patient.
