Please just make all LAs let people put a channel through their pavement for charging. Public chargers will always be more expensive.

Not heard of any country doing this 'en masse'
I’d love a charging gulley - I can reliably park outside my house one a week- that’s all I’d need to be able to charge my EV.
Plenty of people are also living in much more cramped circumstances and can’t make the same assumptions regarding parking.
This will only work if it works for most people. I have a hard time believing that this will be the case.
Most EVs easily do 3.5 miles/kWh.
So 142 miles = 40.6kWh
That takes less than 8 hours at 7kW.
Charging once a week should be ample for average drivers with EVs with ranges over 160 miles.
142 miles = 40.6kWh
Takes less than SIX (6) hours to charge with a 7kW charger
i.e. you can put a lamppost charger outside that offers 3.3kW and charge someone 70p/kWh or the person just runs a cable out their letterbox past it to get a 50%+ discount.
You can't fight desire paths, so build them.
They've been on the brink of setting up a trial to test various solutions for 8 months now...
Growth of a domestic industry, massively reduced driving costs in the midst of a cost of living crisis, increased demand for goods produced by the car industry, positive effect on goodwill from the electorate etc etc
