Yeah agreed. I think I prefer Lies of P on parries / deflections per se, but Sekiro's additional mechanics (e.g. jump / stomp + mikiri counter) probably do give it the edge overall.
I would. But I probably won't 😆 I made it this long without playing I kinda just wanna dive in 100% fresh and I'll pick the first weapon that pops in my head on launch day 😂
That reminds me of my evolution in how I played Pokémon on the gameboy. When I was a kid, I would definitely always attack but now I would definitely do things like thunder screen which is like stunning instead of parrying. Cause you can just prevent your opponent from ever hitting you lmao ahh.
I loved parrying until I started this recent playthrough of Kingfom Hearts where I grind levels on Destiny Islands by literally parrying the same attack over and over again for 10+ hours
Do you play FPS games? In Ultrakill you can parry almost anything.
You can even parry your own shotgun blasts - so if you punch the shotgun pellets the split second they leave the barrel of the gun, it turns into an explosive projectile. *Incredibly* satisfying 👄
That's what Blasphemous turned me into. I used to be terrible at Bloodborne, but now I parry more than I dodge and it's helped immensely once I figured the timing out.
Ghost Of Tsushima is a great parrying game. The Jedi series games are too but those have some real rough edges to combat when dealing with multiple targets, which you almost always are.
I used to want a parry function to be in most games after being addicted to Killing Floor 2, but settled for mere dodge mechanics. If you can dash out of the way, good enough.
YES! Two of my favorite Soulslikes, and I think a big part of it precisely because they have parries that feel amazing. You can technically parry in most Souls games but it doesn't feel nearly as good. And, without naming names, I've played some Soulslikes where the parry doesn't even work right
Like I said, not naming names. No point in punching down at indie projects. It's none of the ones you like.
I agree that DS parry requires much stricter timing, so it doesn't feel as good. I feel like it's mostly experienced players who'll take advantage of it rather than people playing normally.

LET ME PARRY EVERYTHING
Experienced this recently in the "The First Berserker" demo, but there's a sweet spot.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins has too generous a window for parrying and it doesn't trigger it for me.
Such a great game
How have I never noticed!
It made me crave more parry based games

Pro PARRY (goddamn auto correct)
Then I played Elden Ring and I relapsed.
(I Parry Everything)
Thanks Dark Souls.
🤓otherwise I'm a big weapon goes bonk kinda guy
Dark souls parry has always been a timing thing that doesn't feel as precise as sekiro, stellar , LoP and even bloodborne gun parry

Yeah it took me awhile before I got the better feeling of ds parry
