It bothers me so much that someone died from measles last night due to the West Texas outbreak. It’s preventable with vaccination. This should not be happening. A reminder that roughly 1 in 1000 cases are fatal.

Breaks my heart that kids will pay for the poor choice of parents.Had it, vividly remember it over 70 years later. HORRIBLE. Recovered without lasting problems but knew kids who weren't so fortunate.
@rubinallergy.bsky.social For those of us who were vaccinated as kids, is there a length/ limit to the effectiveness? Should people over X age be asking about boosters?
I'd be surprised if it were only 1 in 1000 now though. Measels has killed huge portions of newly exposed indigenous populations around the world, and the success of vaccines means that now the unvaccinated population is closer to that than the 1940s when everyone had it as kids.
tits not the kids who choose. and it's not just red state ppl who will get it, or even just the unvaxxinated. the vaccine is 97% with a full series and wanes a little over decades of life, and there are people who can't have it at all for genuine reasons or don't mount an immune response.
Yes, 97% gets us to herd immunity- I’m just so effin angry. It started with reporters not asking Jenny McCarthy if maybe it was the silicone implants & all the coke she snorted rather than a vaccine that gave her son autism.
