It is a consequence that they can now have access. The point is that the UK government wanted a built in backdoor and Apple would not give it to them. Backdoors get abused and discovered and then exploited.
How do you think Apple magically are able to disable "end to end encryption" on millions of accounts with a single click of a mouse? The backdoor has always been there.
