Ok. I agree the ads are incessant - I had YT Premium through Turkey for about £4 a month but they cracked down on that and personally, couldn't stomach the UK price (on top of all the other stuff) - there are open source Smart TV apps which can adblock but not sure about Apple devices.

I have been using YT premium for 2 years now and the best part of its algorithm is that you end up discovering a lot of new songs which you end up liking and they become part of your rotation.

I made the switch to YouTube Music 3 years ago and don’t regret it. You have the benefit of adding videos as songs to your playlists, a good way to get around songs that aren’t on Spotify. With the bonus of ad free YouTube vids, it’s like two things for the price of one. Absolutely worth it!

I went the other way as YouTube Music is pish. It was missing loads of artists that Spotify had (not sure if that's changed now) and sometimes it would play video versions of songs, so you end up with some random-ass live recording instead of the proper version.

I have considered it and I enjoyed my recent free trial mainly due to no annoying YouTube ads. But, I'm not a fan of the YouTube Music app, especially compared to Spotify. That is putting me off.

Highly recommended. No ads on YT, and music experience is exactly like Spotify IMO. Algorithm picked up my tastes pretty quickly and I’ve found some great stuff as a result. Spotify has flashy exclusives but I never cared about that stuff.

Not what you asked, but I switched from Apple Music to Spotify and regret it. If you’re looking to move off Spotify, consider trying Apple Music.

Yup I did it cos I needed to swap my spotify for netflix, when WWE moves there soon lol. The algo already showed me some songs I listened to on spotify 😳, so i think the algo is decent. I think there’s websites to import playlists from spotify to yt aswell

If loving the Brave browser it blocks all ads. I now have an ad free YouTube experience for nowt. Plus it seems to be faster & you can import yr bookmarks & passwords from other browsers. What’s not to like 😁

The main reason I pay for premium on both is for no ads. And in Australia our basic Spotify doesn't have the same level of functionality that Premium does.

I did it, takes a while and a bit of searching etc. but it eventually works similarly.

Got Premium for my kids etc. to stop the ads so made sense for me not to pay Spotify and YouTube when YouTube Music is free on Premium YouTube anyway.
