Really love how every time I go to write an email, I have a bunch of Google Gemini prompts and pop-ups stopping me from getting on with actually writing the damn email. What an excellent user experience.

I feel like these companies have added too many bells and whistles at this point. I was trying to send a file the other day in outlook, and instead of just attaching the file, it kept trying to send a link that didn't work because it wasn't in OneDrive. Like, just upload the damn PDF goober!
And this is one of the reasons why I have never changed from my AOL email address. Do people give me weird looks for still using it? Yes. Does it frustrate me like Gmail or Outlook? No.
Microsoft's Copilot is exactly the same. I cancelled one of my 365 subscriptions because it was pissing me off and I learned that it cannot be uninstalled. They also announced a price rise of around 47% in an email last week. Why? To pay for all the super AI shit nobody asked for or wants.
I hate that shit. It's in Google Docs, too! So many fucking times I open up a new doc only to have to fight against the stupid fucking templates and AI they want me to fucking use.
They can just fuck all the way off. We know AI exists. No need to shove it down our goddamned throats.
There are a few methods around that.
UDM=14 browser extension
Add "&udm=14" to the end of your search
Set your search engine to google dot com/search?udm=14&q=%s
That will still search using Google, but skips all the AI trash.
My Outlook experience is similarly tainted by Co-Pilot trying to read my emails for me. It just won't take the hint to f-off no matter how much I click the close button.
"We know you've been sending emails for longer than some of our devs have been alive, but please consider using AI to write them. Because we put a lot of money into this.
Anyway, here's Gemini suggesting you respond to this professional email with 'I need you'."
Everyone's going "haha OpenAI who stole mad at stealing lulz I'm so clever" but they've been slurping up your inputs to help them pull ahead - a private dataset they're hoarding, after they stole from the public. Every AI player wants to do this.

No. No I did not.
Just enough already !
The language generated can be offensive to coworkers

on a computer (as opposed to mobile), it should be the settings gear->see all settings
then there should be a checkbox next to "Turn on smart features in Gmail, Chat, and Meet" you can uncheck

Especially when it gets things wrong and you correct it in real time - you can't just scrape that kind of RLHF input. That data is precious.
