i believe it! but his poor little head hits the inside of the “medium” crate recommended for his breed and weight, even after i removed the cushion 😭 it can’t be helping his anxiety. but 42” seems TOO big? (foster german shepherds? that must be a lot of work!) - ThreadSky

If you have space for it, too big would give him some extra wiggle room so it couldn’t hurt. Is there a size in between? 42” is XL in a lot of brands.

(And yes, so much work… we have to take breaks in between 😅)

so i shouldn’t worry if the crate is bigger inside and not so “den-like”? it’s so hard to separate fact from fiction in dog world

this crate would give him enough head room to have a cushion 😭😭 felt so bad taking it away but he was HUNCHED

It’ll still be very den-like compared to the average living room, for example. Tighter quarters can help with potty training if the whole space is only enough for a bed, but I think most dogs would prefer some extra space otherwise. You could also drape a blanket over top to make it feel more cozy.

he’s not truly housebroken (bc he’s always had immediate access to the outdoors at the training facility) but he won’t go soiling his crate i’m quite sure
