i see that LLMs have a few uses, especially now that there are models that don’t suck so much power and water (and money)

when you can run it on your laptop, there’s no ethical energy issue for personal use
if you’re not using it to output work product, it’s not plagiarism, and if it takes little to no more energy than normal personal computing, that is no longer an ethical issue
but it’s still deeply problematic yow most people use it — how they are ENCOURAGED to use it

- “go from this big block of text to something small and specific”
- “rubber duck [problem] with me so i can try to figure it out myself”
but, man, the amount of magical thinking from AI super believers that this is the singularity/will replace employees? crazy to see.

and that worked at what i’d call a B- level, tolerable considering it saved me half an hour
