I stopped watching it after the 2004 "giant douche vs shit sandwich" episode -- released in the middle of a giant (teetering) invasion of a foreign country. Not even sure how to draw a line between _that_ and MAGA isolationism.

yeah that's the other part of south park's cultural cache: the terminal both sides-ism, the fallacy of the golden mean/truth-is-in-the-middle-ism taken to its fatal conclusion
They definitely did Al Gore dirty. Had a whole episode saying he was a stupid crank because global warming was made up, then eventually an episode where they admitted global warming was true but said Gore was still an asshole because…reasons
