We didn't have to worry about that because we had our absentee ballot emailed to us. Now I'm kind of glad they did, because there isn't a lot of time for them to resend to Canada if something gets messed up. We triple checked everything and I'm always worried there will be a problem with our votes.

I volunteered as a poll observer at my neighborhood election center on Saturday and the staff was absolutely wonderful, some of the most helpful Philly employees I've encountered. Go see them if you have any concern at all with your ballot!

This happened to my wife, too. She had to stop by an election office to get a new one--fortunately, there are a lot of them and it's very quick. Get that ballot in as soon as you can!

I know someone that happened to as well. It seems to depend on your county. My mom’s, with the traditional lick-and-stick, had that potential, but mine had a covered adhesive strip.

My daughter's, too. We steamed it open and I don't even know how my wife got it sealed again. Some sort of spray adhesive. Good to know we could have just taped it shut.

it goes county by county, in mine anyway they email you (if you signed up for email notifications) when your ballot is received. I forget if they also email you when it's counted, but last time I remember looking up to check if it was counted, so something exists (sorry it's not more specific 😅)

Your ballot gets received and separated from the outer envelope for privacy.

You get a notification when your ballot is received, but there's no way to know when YOUR ballot *in particular* has been counted. Chain of custody is overseen by members of both parties to be sure all votes are counted.

All the counting in PA waits until Election Day. They're not allowed to count the votes they received early until ED.

So you get the notification when your vote is received, but it's not counted until Election Day.

Thanks, I'm not surprised. Unfortunate, because a class of specifically identified voters whose ballots weren't counted would be more legally compelling than a pile of uncounted anonymous ballots.
