Pre-democracy is still a living memory for South Koreans so I dunno, maybe we really do need to lose ours for a while. Americans have been too comfortable for too long and genuinely don't believe anything could ever change that.

I agree completely. These people have family members and elected leaders who remember the military dictatorships of the past. They know how fragile it all is. There are people over here who know that too but I fear there's not enough of them
