It's funny that we've evolved to a point where they've balanced the cost-reduction cards well enough that the thing that's broken is a random other card that exploits their printed cost.
Beans has to be one of the biggest cases of “dying for the sins of other cards” ever. First was the Modern ban over the Evoke Elementals, and now if it’s possibly getting banned in Standard, it’ll be because of the Overlords.
Idk if I'd put This Town at the same level lol This Town is annoying but it has downsides. Bean Stalk just replaces itself if it resolves and is just a crazy value engine.
Replaces it's self if it resolves, but also removes something from your board. If they bounce two of their own things replaces twice. It's not the same engine but certainly as frustrating imo. Plus beans can be removed from board with removal
I don’t get to play much anymore but I still watch a ton. It’s crazy just how good every color’s card draw is these days and how explosive low cost cards are like this. Imo cards like beans and care takes talent should have never been printed. At st the very least should have been 3 mana more each.
This card would maybe be fine IF (big if) they stopped printing cards that are expensive in a fake way. There are so many cards where the cost on the card is just never paid (elementals, overlords, on top of stuff like Ride's End).
It's one of those cards that I understand why they don't ban it, but it's frustrating that it rewards players for cheating mana costs when the cheating of said mana costs already makes the card good.
