I always thought that calls and letters were the equivalent of the "close door" button in the elevator: just there to give you a sense of agency. But if it makes them cry, I might just do it for fun.

Really depends on the legislation, body, and target, but it's still a best practice and if anything if you're a good caller you can help counterbalance all the asshole callers, so if for nothing, assuming your electeds staffer isnt a big ghoul, put a smile on their face by being obnoxiously happy

I can see that. When I got involved in local politics before, it was mind numbingly dumb and fruitless. We could benefit from lessons on how to get achievable, if small, results, or at least some satisfaction out of annoying people who should be doing better.

I think there’s also a difference between like typical legislation related to how an industry is regulated (which is more more subject to being influenced by lobbying) and like objecting to a constitutional crisis. It’s not like powerful industry lobbies are pushing Dems to support DOGE.
