I am 69 years old. I have been eating organic since I was 14 years old. I am a nutrition therapist and use therapeutic diets to help people. This is a mission that I support.
I’m 100% not a troll, but a doctor. There are 3 big differences that make HFCS a big public health concern:
1. Direct Links to obesity & 💜 disease
2. Mercury contamination during highly processed production
3. Toxic to honey bees and kills their colonies. Dm me for the study quoted if you want it.
I moved to Mexico six years ago. Mexican Coke used cane sugar until a couple years ago they switched to HFCS, probably as a result of a trade agreement but the Coke is now too sweet and syrupy and I mostly quit it.
They still make the glass bottle cane sugar version but for export to only 2US
I don't even think #2 and #3 come up. It's just #1 that they seem to dispute, at least with regard to any difference between HFCS and other forms of sugar.
That’s why after 25 years helping people reclaim their health with food as medicine, we created @foodfixr.bsky.social . People genuinely have no clue how the manufacturing and labeling of our food supply is affecting our health. Here to help! Share, help us get the word out. would 💯 appreciate it!
Are you going after the use of plastic in food packaging and preparation? Chemicals leaching into our food from plastics cause neurological damage to humans and DNA. The rise of neurological diseases matches the large scale introduction of plastics with an off set of 25-35 years impact duration.
There are so many chemicals in our environment that we've been exposed to, in some cases for over a century.
Tetraethyl lead in gasoline was a problem that took years to stop. DDT, PCBS, PBBs, fluorinated compounds are persistent chemistry that will remain in the environment for centuries.

Start at the direct contact point where chemicals are absorbed into our bodies and how those chemicals cause short term and long term genetic damage. The rise of plastics in our food chain correlates well to the rise in neurological disorders with a typical impact period. Effects match up.
The more I read the literature, the more I conclude that HFCS is not, per se, worse than sugar in its effect on metabolism. It is the _ubiquity_ of simple sugars in the typical American diet that is the killer. HFCS is cheap, and so was added to a great many foods.

We are living in an immense biochemical experiment!
Let's not dilute our efforts but keep focus on priorities w others always in the background as part of the solutions.
Are you a vegan or plant based organization?
I'd rather be on welfare than poison people.
