I got really shitty news today after a pretty tough month. A couple years ago I would be opening a very large bottle of whiskey to deal with it. Today I’m gonna not do that.

Layoffs suck. I’ve been through three and I’m still stuck in the last one. So sorry this happened.

Not sure where you’re at, but here (Washington) is “at will” state or something like that. Neither you nor the employer have to have a reason to part ways. Which really makes it harder to process.

When I got my severance doc email, I told them I’d have it reviewed by my legal counsel.

I reached out to that legal counsel (sister who just graduated law school) and she gave me very good advice:

“I cannot legally be referred to as “legal counsel.” #EmploymentLaw
