The distance travelled in those 7 years is huge though. That was 4 years before he bought what is now X and started the journey into the abyss. So whilst he was saying some relatively crazy things, he was mostly doing Tesla & Space X stuff back then

It's been clear that he's an asshole for a very, very long time. People just overlooked it because he was a "green visionary."

Nevermind that he only chose that path because he saw the tax incentives and carbon credit offsets that would make him wildly rich. It was NEVER about the environment.
