We also saw one, hanging out across the street, well within the city of Calgary. Perhaps Canada is inheriting America’s symbol of freedom?

There are quite a few around Canada, more-so west of Sault Saint Marie. There’s even a raptor counting site out in k-country (near Troll falls). Hotspots I know of in Calgary are in Carburn Park, near the bird sanctuary and FishCreek PP.
