But under our current hard-won state law, we're unlikely to hit even $20/hour by 2030.
In 2023, the Raise Up NY coalition mobilized thousands to push Albany to increase the downstate min. wage to $17 by 2026 and tying further wage increases to inflation.
We need to push further.
According to Economic Policy Institute, if the minimum wage had just kept up with worker productivity growth since the 1960s, it would reach $28.35 next year.
Instead, that surplus is going to corporate profits. The bosses are keeping the money for themselves.
