It's extremely stupid but I'm evaluating to what extent it would be protective to have some portion of my assets physically in my possession at home (cash or precious metal). No longer trust that brokerage/bank balances couldn't possibly be seized on the basis of e.g. being a queer leftist

Maybe start moving forward with the assumption that people have good intentions and work from there instead of assuming the worst right off the bat. As someone who has been successful in organizing, this advice I was given has served me well.
