I knew a guy in Inglewood in the 80s that would sell them as a nickel bag with a small bud in it. Good enough for two or three pipeloads. Before that it was shit weed in a sandwich bag that was mostly powder and seeds.
Being from Santa Cruz I am glad I missed that socal dirt weed. People were always happy to see me when I went south. The hippies in Santa Cruz never bothered to buy small bags to sell grams, they just stuck it in a sandwich bag, or rolled it up in plastic.
