A new Warcraft 3 patch just accidentally added a bunch of maps in a folder labeled "Devonly". Most are boring but there is a concept for a WC1 remake: A single WIP mission from Garona's PoV as the Horde first enters Azeroth.
There is also an SC2-style co-op concept, but that's a very early version.
