I was reading it thinking if I were a kid in Gaza or the West Bank who'd seen the last eight months and hadn't yet decided to join some group that would give me a gun and permission to use it, this would probably do the trick. Which is to say, there's no excuse any of this is about Israeli safety

I haven’t been to Israel since 2009–10, but my driver was making casual ultra-racist jokes incessantly (he pointed at a minefield near the Golan Heights and said “in English and Hebrew it says “warning” and in Arabic it says “football field”)

Funny story; I was in Israel for 2 weeks for law school (IHL course) circa 2018, and the cab driver was singing Trump's praises. If memory serves, this was prior to the embassy move.
