this is such a cool game. it's probably not the easiest to get into, especially now that there are like 25 different units, but it's absolutely worth it.
i started playing this back when it was in beta and that number was closer to 16. it then went into early access for a while and released recently

the premise is basically this: both players build up armies that fight each other and whoever is left standing wins the round.
the catch is though: once the round starts, you have zero control over anything, so you really need to build your units up tactically and counter your enemy

for example, fortresses have massive amounts of health and do really high single target damage but they shoot really slowly so unless the enemy has some other form of splash damage, they're easy to counter with crawlers that attack in swarms

one mechanic i love is that when a round ends, the units that are left standing deal damage to the enemy player (roughly proportional to their cost), so if you completely destroy your opponent, you will do a lot more damage than if the round is really close

there is a lot more depth to it with unit levels, tech upgrades (including really fun ones like replicate for crawlers), towers that stun enemies when they're destroyed and more unusual units like hackers, but that's a bit too much too describe in a few tweets ^^
