I suspect that this is the trend with all fossil fuel projects -past and present. The industry lies and bribes its way to more profits disregarding all emissions and doom us all doing so. And our leaders look from the sideline thinking "this is the best we can do". Is it? Seriously?

Why do you think the problem is leaders. We keep electing leaders that proudly say they won't do anything and there is no problem. We can't make it through a few years of a low rate carbon tax. What exactly are "leaders" who do want to do something supposed to do when we act like this?

But how? Why are they choosing to be distracted by the whatnot? Climate change has been a known issue for almost everyone alive for most of their lives at this point. If it's not important to those people how do you make it important to their leaders? They are clearly now choosing to reject truth.

If accurate, what would this mean for the proposed emissions cap? Capping emissions is obviously only meaningful if the emissions are being properly calculated.
