Over 10,000 Indigenous children were taken from their families and sent to Carlisle between 1879–1918. Only 158 graduated. Thousands never came home. They were not just students, they were stolen generations. Remember them. Honor them. Never forget.

There's a great biography of Native American athlete Jim Thorpe called "Path Lit by Lightning" that delves into the history of Carlisle. Among other things, I learned that the legendary Pop Warner was an utter scumbag.
We got so much left out, other things noted in passing. Had to get college level history for details. But it's a wealth of information compared to what they now teach
