I’m part of a cultural/spiritual organization with weekly get togethers and relatable philosophy for people of all ages called Swadhyay Parivar. Not a religious group, but based on fundamental concept of devotion and selfless relationships.
We need democrats to form a shadow cabinet, and appoint a competent spokesperson to regularly provide public updates and responses to America that call out and denounce each and every unAmerican and undemocratic act this regime commits against the people and US Constitution.
Whether it is the more recent overwhelming outpouring of love and support post-wildfires in LA or after the hurricanes in the Southeast, example after example of of communities uniting despite their politics are not new. People just need to remember how they saw another's humanity in tough times.
I moved to a new state and started volunteer training with a refugee immigration service. Then services/funding halted by the new admin. Unknown if new immigrants will be allowed in but families here still need help learning English, getting jobs etc. Trying to improve lives one family at a time.
Just started going to a book club hosted by my local indie bookstore and it's been great. Been reading books that I might not otherwise pick up and everyone there has been cool.
Love that! I've been visiting coffee shops and bookstores more just to be around folks and have more face-to-face conversations instead of doomscrolling. :) What are you currently reading?
@delraecpa.bsky.social has started a 'democracy gardens' group in our area recently, taking inspiration from victory gardens in the past to encourage community
I've gotten more active w/ volunteer work at church. I find myself craving community and am reaching out more despite being introverted. The church I go to provides a lot. It's helping manage anxiety. Takes my mind off some stuff, provides purpose; and reminds me I'm not alone. TY Chasten!
