This is amazing! 🤩 Where did you find the building footprints? I'm looking for material/data for https://www.code-like-a-journalist.com/, and a tutorial on how to recreate that using Svelte/Threlte could be really nice.

There's an SVG on Wikipedia that has all the building footprints plus the marks on top for fatalities. I 3D-printed the buildings in white filament then switched to black for the marks (stacked cubes) and glued them all onto a printout of the original map

This is me removing the handle from the Broad Street pump, as Dr Snow did when he worked out from the map that its infected water was causing the cholera deaths clustered around it (huge oversimplification, but you get the idea). Below is an unadulterated water pump just north of Oxford St

You've captured the insight of Snow's map, and adding the element of depth is startling. Without being ghoulish or dreary about it, the result seems to really describe the human suffering involved.

Thanks Jeff. I was very conscious that each small block represented someone who had died and felt bad that I had to zoom in a bit and exclude a handful of deaths to the west of Soho
