Sorry, but that’s nonsense. A book sells because people buy it, they buy it because they like it. And especially after, what, 16 years there’s no momentum in the world that would keep a book “just selling because.”

BND writers are piggybacking off 50+ years of Spiderman history and nearly 2 decades of a married Peter/MJ for sales. If these stories were told under any new IP, they wouldn’t sell. Brand loyalty, nostalgia, and completionism keep it going not just ‘people like it.’ Can you not see the sentiment?
Over those 16 years readers have been slowly dribbling away from ASM. The sentiment has gotten so bad that every post related to ASM gets a heated reaction. ASM is doing numbers to get by yes, but it’s not even in the top 20 volumes for the last year. Does that look like a flagship title to you?
