We need a name for the thing where a new game has so much higher system requirements than its prior entry that it ends up looking worse on your PC.

It's the same beta as last time, just with additional monsters, so hopefully performance well be better in the release version.
Just because GFX cards CAN do frame gen and DLSS doesn't mean that everyone owns a RTX card!

Its not an Upgrade because you can't use it. Its not a Downgrade because it is actually a better product. Its not a sidegrade because you aren't getting equal results.
But depending on Input of data it can be any of these things
speaking of, the top mods for monster hunter world were for optimization. disabling that volumetric fog alone was day and night!
One of the quality attributes of software is efficiency. It is a measure of performance. So one way to describe it could be performance degradation.
(Good news, the beta looks and runs worse than the final game will... but perf is definitely still gonna be dicey, their environmental/systemic stuff is really demanding despite not looking better than World in many ways)
Will admit the graphics creep is getting a bit absurd with diminishing returns
iirc the creator of Special K stopped supporting mhw because of what appeared to be Capcom targeting that program in particular
