#Cranberries tend to get the shaft, but two recipes will convert the humble cranberry into #Thanksgiving necessities: 1) Bon Apepetit’s Cranberry Sauce with Toadted Shallots and Port (if you’re needing savory), or 2) my apple cider cranberry sauce. Recipe follows.

1 c. Apple cider
1/2 c. Brown sugar
1 apple, peeled and diced
2 cinnamon sticks
Orange peel from 1 orange
1 knob fresh ginger, or to taste
Combine over medium heat & bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer until the cranberries pop, about 10-15 mins. Refrigerate.
