One of the things that will always get my goat is an assumption that universities are “liberal”. Like, students and faculty read and are educated and they learn and are curious.
But the institutions? Conservative. Terrified of liability. Neoliberal projects in love with rigid, brainless policy.

According to Michael Clune, universities are facing an existential crisis because ten years ago they "began to reframe their work as a kind of political activism."
Zero political economic analysis or understanding. Zero regard for how ethics/politics work. Just 'woke' = bad.

And it’s not like the right didn’t engage! Think tanks COME from these places.
Just baffling. Ignorant. Thoughtless.
Just like. You can wake up and NOT be a ghoul. It’s very possible to just have empathy or compassion for people. It’s not even really all that hard.
We see learning framed as 'metrics', we are pressured for 'dashboards' and 'measurements' - demonstrative learning.
But learning is human, an embodied experience. It's so much more than numbers or 'framings.'
BIG UGH.
