Many interesting points but if I can offer some constructive feedback, I think it would have been a richer discussion with a Brazilian guest to balance your American POVs. Freedom of speech is viewed differently by the Brazilian constitution and there is alleged criminal activity involved here.

Exactly my thinking. I enjoyed the episode, but what was missing (and typically is from these debates) is an understanding of how other countries interpret freedom of speech. Different from the US view, while it does not translate into “less freedom”. Just a different perception.

As Americans we can unintentionally view our country and values as the default of common sense, but the US govt and platforms have done so little to control misinformation and violent far-right that 1 could argue we’re in a worse position for it.

Bolsonaro can’t run for office again but Trump could conceivably end democracy in the US. Musk can call for civil war in the UK or openly campaign for Trump - doesn’t seem like it can end well if he faces zero consequences. The stakes are so high regardless of Moraes’s flaws.
