The Room Next Door is Almodovar at his most morose. Tilda Swinton is halting in her delivery of a woman who had already grieved her own demise. Julianne Moore is in a more naturalist drama. Alberto Iglesias’s score sells the melodrama. Almodovar’s direction in English needs growth.
