125,000 Japanese and Japanese Americans (mostly children) were held in detention in 75 different sites, most famously the ten major ones: Manzanar (CA), Heart Mtn (WY), Topaz (UT), Minidoka (ID), Tule Lake (CA), Gila (AZ), Amache (CO), Poston (AZ), Jerome/Rohwer (AR), and Crystal City(TX.)
They were run by the Army, by the DOJ, by the War Relocation Authority, and several were on land grabbed from Indian reservations.
No due process, no chance to defend oneself/family, scapegoated by politicians pandering to their constituents' racism. Made "illegal" by the government.
Does this sound familiar? Trump riling up animosity towards Mexicans and Venezuelans (sure to increase the list later) and justifying it by saying they are "illegal" based on our inadequate immigration system even though we NEED immigrant labor which helps fuel our economy.
