One example: I worked on live games where we KNEW exactly what had to be done to improve performance and frame rates, it would have been significant improvements for all players, but the Biz people never gave us the time to work on that and wanted us to implement new features instead.

Ideally you are in a team where you trust ppl making decisions, and you understand they are being made with the right things in mind.
Always a dance of compromises, and we hope to get the balance right more often than not
My favorite example is AirBnb, and why they are not presenting the correct price on the map view 😅
