I know the struggle all too well, but as Developer time still comes at a premium we often have to make uncomfortable decisions leading to “tolerable” results in one area, but progress in other key areas.

One example: I worked on live games where we KNEW exactly what had to be done to improve performance and frame rates, it would have been significant improvements for all players, but the Biz people never gave us the time to work on that and wanted us to implement new features instead.
