I've said this a lot but the Splatoon community needs a channel like GRSmash or Yeet Smash that uploads top level content in a very digestible format. Doesn't require that much editing and it's a great way to get potential players interested in the series
Top players not uploading vods is a big part of this too imo, I feel like the top players I have seen stream will usually just delete the vod after like a week or something (I’m not sure exactly how generally applicable this is to the top players who stream though)
You're not, I too crave context, but the broad pattern on the platform suggests that whenever this happens, if you simply assume they're talking about Splatoon you'll be right 90% of the time.
HELP THATS SO FUNNY what was your initial reaction like?
also this makes me really curious who you're following that puts this stuff on your feed, i want to shift my algorithm towards your direction haha
Confusion about the lack of context at first, but sleuthing around at people's avatars revealed the topic eventually.
It's only like 1 post in a 100 and falling as we grow, but it's occurred JUST enough times that I was instantly sympathetic to see "help what game is this even about?!"
Yup! Not sure about the origins, maybe some of the top ranked Splatoon content creators jumped on here early or something, but it's a thing!
If Twitter keeps shedding entire communities we might have to start context-scouting for other games too, but historically it's almost always Splatoon.
yeah the competitive splatoon community basically lived exclusively on twitter and discord so as twitter has started to shit the bed, a massive portion of the community has jumped ship, i guess more than other games' communities have!
The trick is to mouse over a few avatars; live services tend to attract players that dedicate themselves to one game above all others, so they frequently have references to the only game they could possibly be talking about in there.

"I agree with the dipstick nerfs but grenade spec umbrella squirtshot meta needs moar inkotomi plaza rotations"
