I live in Maine and we take Canadian at a 1:1 ratio too but not everywhere. You can buy coffee or a tourist shirt with it but not a car. It's about convivence for our Canadian neighbors and it doesn't matter if we lose some cents here, some there. Sometimes it's better for them, sometimes us.
