The only way we are going to get action is to dry up the donations, stop shopping, and get out in the streets. Millions of us standing silently or singing in solidarity will wake them up. It has to be a movement. But most Americans are content to sit on their couches & pretend this isn't happening.

It's not a cop out. For example, the "tiny split" makes them powerless to deny cabinet confirmations because those are done by simple majority vote. We should have elected more Dems. But we didn't. Not enough people gave a shit.

They ARE playing the hand that they were dealt - a very bad hand. You can't blame them for not being able to convince Republicans to do the right thing. Dems HAVE been standing up, protesting, delaying etc but that's all they can do unless they shut down the government, which they'd be blamed for.
