But oil demand is soft these days and possibly peaked. The focus now is not so much oil as GAS -- not piped but liquified (LNG) and shipped on special tankers. (I'm old enough to remember when the idea of US exporting LNG was a fever dream of one mid-cap corp.. now US is biggest exporter.) 4/

LNG trade dynamics have changed a lot with geopolitcs in recent years. Europe has (infamously) imported a lot of US LNG since the invasion of Ukraine, to substitute piped Russian gas. There is also the question how much LNG the U.S. would be able to export. Overall production is very oil price dependent, a decent amount is needed for the domestic market and there is not much left which can be produced economically.
