Thats where an attendant putting your gas, checking your oil, tires etc and cleaning your windshield went.
A garden in the yard (nopales, beans, tomatoes, greens, chili pequins, etc) made a big difference, as did fixing/making things instead of replacing/buying them.
Learned alot from Granparents who lived thru the Depression
Recycled everything into something useable.
Dried tomato, pumpkin, squash, watermellon seeds onto newspaper and planted.
Pinto beans saved from the bag when I cooked some.
Got the Nopales from someones trash.
Even ate some wild plants (aka weeds such as broadleaf plantains)
