Then things/life happened, disordered eating, undiagnosed/untreated depression, yo yo dieting etc and 35 years later I was exactly 50 kg heavier than in that picture. With high cholesterol, blood pressure creeping upwards, gallstones, sleep apnea, BMI over 40. I had been seeing a nutritionist
because of the cholesterol etc and last autumn I was crying to her and she asked have I considered weight loss medication. I stared at her like 😶 cos I honestly had not (even if I obvs was aware they exist). Cue several doc appts, lots of reseach etc. And now I have been on M0un jar0 for 3 months.
There is now about 15 kgs (33 pounds) less of me. Cholesterol levels have plummeted (they’re almost within guidelines now) and I feel really good. Now, of course the medication doesn’t decrease weight, but it especially helps with cravings that I just could not control.
Food noise in my head is gone, I feel full for longer/with smaller portions etc. I used to eat a lot of processed meat (yes, sausages) and crips/chips, burgers etc. And now I instinctively reach for more fruits and veg etc. It really is amazing how the 💉affects your brain to make better choices.
Now, I don’t try to be as slim as I was age 16, but I’d like to get BMI under 30.
Yes, there are side-effects but mine has been slight constipation that is easily managed.
And I am fortunate to live in a country where medication prices are heavily regulated. I pay it all myself, but I’m still on low dose and 8 weeks worth of 💉was about 280€. Yes, expensive but manageable AND I use a lot less money on groceries than before. I feel 💉 really has been A Very Good Thing.
