One of my earliest #AllMyChildren memories is being at my grandparents’ house with my mom. The grands were watching #Days in the living room, so mom & I watched AMC on the b&w set in their bedroom…

Erica received a fur coat from her paramour du jour and my mom was desperate to know what color it was, so we raced into the living room and begged the grands to switch channels…but, alas, it was too late. #AllMyChildren had gone to commercial by the time the channel was manually changed.
When I was in high school, my mom worked so she started recording #AllMyChildren on the VCR to watch when she got home from work…and, of course, I joined in.
I was RIVETED by the “woman in the well” storyline with Natalie vs “Janet From Another Planet”. Literally couldn’t get enough of it.
My mom gave up on #AllMyChildren sometime in the late 90s, but I stuck with it to the bitter (and boy was it ever bitter) end. Not a daily viewer from start to finish, but I would keep up on the storylines via the soap periodicals my grandmother subscribed to and by watching whenever I could.
Some particularly impactful events from #AllMyChildren were: Jenny’s death by waterski; Jesse’s death (mom & I were SOBBING); Tad’s “death” and the aftermath of his return; the tornado that hit Pine Valley and scarred Julia’s face.
Of course, there were also the many trials & tribulations of Erica Kane Martin Brent Cudahy Chandler Roy Montgomery Montgomery Marick Marick Montgomery. A 5’2” supermodel who scared off a bear, battled her retconned brat and became an abusive addict. We never could get enough Erica! #AllMyChildren
As I stated, my grandparents watched #Days, as well as all the other NBC soaps. Every summer I would spend at least one week with them (in addition to holidays) so I got to visit Salem, Bay City and #SantaBarbara on a fairly regular basis.
I remember being most impressed with #AnotherWorld when I was younger, especially during the mid-late 80s with the reintroduction of Amanda Cory, Mac’s death/aftermath — and, of course, the late, great Anne Heche as Vicky/Marley.
#AnotherWorld was amazing in the 80s. We had Felicia Gallant, Donna Love, Vicky Hudson, Marley Hudson and Amanda Cory all gracing our screens at the same time!!
#SantaBarbara eventually grew on me to the point where I was watching it on my own at home. While everyone else was obsessed with Cruz & Eden (I could never get on board with MW as a heroine because, to me, she was always Liza Colby) I was smitten with Gina, Mason & Augusta.
