It is a capitalistic move to keep us shopping. I'm all for bringing back a Christmas season starting on Christmas Day, and lasting just 12 days, as in The Twelve Days of . . .

Black Friday was a term used by sales associates and those who work in retail to describe the Friday after Thanksgiving due to the crush of folks mobbing the malls and stores. Retailers, capitalists do what they do best and co-opted the phrase. It’s not a conspiracy.
