This is a great shot - one i have never seen before.

My mom backpacked Europe with a gf is '55 and when they went through Holland locals found out that they were Canadian - and never paid for a drink or meal the entire time.

I'm told this happens to this day from time to time.

This makes me tear up. My late dad fought in Europe with the Canadian Forces—even though Canada stripped his birth citizenship rights from him, he still volunteered.

Great picture! They are part of First Canadian Army, and are troops of the British 49th West Riding Division. The polar bear patch on their uniform was adopted after their service garrisoning Iceland in 1940. 49th WR Division was part of the First Canadian Army from Normandy to the end of the war.
