I remember they did this for an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation too. Jack Layton went, dressed up in a Starfleet uniform. For the rest of his life his political supporters would reference a picture of it to show his fun side, while critics would use it to suggest he was a dork.

It seems befitting that George Wendt passed on the 32nd anniversary of Cheers finale air date. More than 80 million people watched the final episode of Cheers, the 2nd highest rated series finale behind M*A*S*H.

Just looked this up on utube. Great stuff. And to think at the time that screen was considered jumbo at the time. That screen would like 1/10 of a stadium jumbotron now
