One of the things I enjoy about Anime and Manga is the way in which stories are told differently than we used to in the West. I think the character interactions are really where this series shines and there is a subversion in play here with the setting in every episode that makes them stand out.

Possibly the network heads in play at the time saw the entertainment value in these more risque episodes and felt it was worth the effort to edit them to help them get aired here in the US.

These episodes introduced me to heavy topics I understand could sour the experience of the podcast so I understand if my comments are skipped.

I would love to know how these early Toonami license conversations happened... like down to a courtroom transcript. Who is/are the unsung heroes that realized Tenchi Muyo was the anime the US audience deserved? "I don't care if we have to paint every frame of Ryoko's cooch - THE KIDS NEED THIS!"

Anyway, ep 3+4 are great little "transitionary" bits for the overall scope of OVA 1. We get juuust the right amount of time with letting our cast breathe; the writers flexing their chops on how much fun potential their toybox holds... and then ep 4 drops that haunting teaser on us!
