To my point yesterday about how the danger with unorganized protests isn't just honeypots or sabotage but just people who are fucking clueless, here's people going to the 50501 protest closest to me discussing *asking the police to come on purpose*

It's obviously not on the same level as protesting outright fascism, but cops are the reason I'm scared to try to stage a topless equality protest in Portland. Even though Oregon theoretically allows FULL BODY NUDITY,
it only takes one puritanical, misogynistic cop to decide to arrest me anyway, and I don't have the money or energy to hire a lawyer to fight against an illegal arrest.
I'd also be afraid to do that just because with cops beating people or shooting rubber bullets or whatever, you want some protection between that and your skin
Yes, I mean cops shooting us for just being topless seems like a stretch, but ACAB so who knows. "the horror! A female nipple! Quick, teargas the interloper before some child sees it!!"
Their discord had a conversation about how they shouldn't push an ACAB message and not ALL cops are bad etc. etc. They really don't want people saying anything bad about the cops there.
the one happening near me is doing this and inviting the local do-nothing group that is so laughable there are nationally shared memes about how do-nothing and bad they are. i am going to snap.
I don't know if they went through with calling them or not, but just, y'know, beware if you're in Kentucky. There is absolutely a chance some dipshit called the cops to ensure they'd be right there at their protest, yknow, to protect them :-)
jfc i have only ever been on Family Friendly Marches and even *then* there is the understanding that the cops are not our fucking friends!! were these posters literally born yesterday aaaaa
I am looking further into them and...my god...I cannot explain how often they say that organizers should contact the local cops to help defend their protests
Maybe we should all just bite a curb and invite Musk's little brownshirts to come and look at us, defenseless on the ground, to show how dedicated to order and non-violence we all are

Here’s the last sentence since there’s no ALT text on the pic :(
“I know the police can be scary, but it's their job... unless they're racists that use excessive force, then disregard everything I said”
I mean ACAB is not the theme of the protest AND I don’t trust anyone’s protesting skills if they’re not starting off as defensive as possible….
having the same problem in my area with new organizers
"Have them reach out to police departments to get some police presence. Places that have official permits should have an easier time we this."
There's a million of these
lol
