Pushing through burnout is like trying to boil an empty kettle. It’s not only pointless but can lead to permanent damage. Do not feel guilty about filling your kettle, it may be a short term loss but it is a long term gain.
I take sleeping pills (I have actual insomnia) but for those who don't, it may be useful to repeat this mantra:
"My bed is sacred and the world outside shall not join me."
I feel this so much. I remember the time I worked in tech support as the most stressful and miserable time of my life. It was so bad. So little sleep, so much stress, it undoubtedly took years off my life.
